2003 NAB Offering Call
“Becoming Faithful Stewards”

Date: December 13, 2003
Appeal: Inner City
Inner City Offering Appeal

Desperate and fearful, John rests his arm against the juvenile center’s window. He thinks about the large stash of Marijuana hidden under his bed at home. He sobs uncontrollably at the impact it’s made on his life. He realizes that its hold on him is strong. What’s next? Prison? Death? Where will he turn?

John and people like him are seeking something they can’t provide for themselves:
hope. Their chance of escaping futility rests with someone beyond themselves. You are that someone, and your contribution to Adventist Community Services helps us to help others.

Adventist Community Services (ACS) provides vital help to families who are unemployed, working-poor, and uninsured in poverty pockets in the U. S. 100 percent of your contribution will fund services such as drug and alcohol abuse programs, homeless shelters, clinics, tutoring, literacy training, and more. The Inner City Program is one of the major programs of ACS, the humanitarian agency of our church, within the U.S. It is funded by the annual offering and a yearly appropriation from lngathering.

The Inner City offering is taken in all Seventh-day Adventist churches once each year and in 2001 it increased by 21%. “The growing support of our members for this critical area of need is much appreciated,” says Sung Kwon, executive director of
ACS.

In 2001, Adventist Community Services funded $247,500 to inner city projects, which exceeded the yearly budget but was necessary for the community programs to thrive.

Your contribution will enable the more than 850 inner city entities throughout the U.S. to reach a group of people God loves more than life itself. Please give generously to the Inner City Offering.

Appeal text: “Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous:” [1 Peter 3:8]
