COMMUNITY SERVICES

In a letter written in 1897, Ellen White wrote.

“.. . . When a man sees that he is not successful, why does he not betake himself to prayer, or change his work? There are stormy times before us, and the Lord will accept all who can cooperate with Him. Practice self- denial and self-sacrifice. Consider every movement carefully and prayerfully. Walk softly before the Lord. We must preserve a devotedness to God, and make straight paths for our feet, lest the lame be turned out of the way.” Letter 63 in Counsels on Stewardship , p. 256.

Whether they be lame, or whatever the need, how we conduct our lives before God and mankind is pivotal. As you consider your offering today won’t you think carefully and prayerfully about your role in meeting the need of your fellow human being who is struggling to remain on the straight path? Prayer will do much, but maybe God is calling you to change your work and He’s inviting you to come up to a whole new level as a “Faithful Steward”. Your example has influence for good or for evil. Are you a community servant?

Thank you for giving to the Lord; cause in reality you are giving to another one of His children. “He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth upon the Lord; and that which he hath given will He pay him again.” Proverbs 19:17
