THE BLESSINGS OF A SAVING WIFE

Many years ago, the American author, Nathaniel Hawthorne returned home with the bad news that he had been let go from his current position. To his surprise, Hawthorne’s wife didn’t seem troubled by the situation with the excitement in her voice said, “Now, you can write that book you have been just talking about for many years.”

“And what do you think we will live on, while I write such a book!” he asked in a doubting tone. Smiling broadly, Sophia Hawthorne opened a kitchen drawer and took out an envelope of cash and then said, “I had faith that someday you would pen a masterpiece so every week I have saved a few dollars fro the housekeeping money you have given me. We now have enough to live on for the next twelve months.”

According to history Nathaniel Hawthorne sat down that very day and began writing the masterpiece of his literary career — “The Scarlet Letter.”

Let’s not forget that without the foresight and inspiration of his wife, this author would not be remembered today. God is like that with His earthly children. When our first parents in a sense. “were dismissed” from the Garden of Eden, He took out a plan from the Heavenly kitchen drawer and wrote the Masterpiece of eternity. A story of how a loving Father saved His wayward children.
